twitter

while i don't use twitter i can see the value in it when used appropriately. it's another potentially great path to find information. even though tweets are so small they provide the ability to link to web pages with further information and are a quick way of collecting updates on things one might be interested in. oddly only 10% of the tweeters produce 90% of the tweets. while i think this isn't something that will change too much it is still see it as a viable forum for information gathering... at least until something new comes along.

library thing

i found it relatively straightforward. i can see using it as a tool to keep track of books i enjoyed as well as a way of finding new books from other lists. i really like the idea.

productivity tools

i can see free tools particularly those being offered from google replacing microsoft. google is slowly but surely expanding into all sorts of different aspects of our lives. they are always coming up with ways to inflitrate our computer usage - blogging software, productivitiy tools, rss readers etc. that they can't help but eventually bypass microsoft.

you tube/flicker

there is good content on both sites but you do have to search around for it. it's not too bad in it's usablility but there are some aspects of it that are a little bit difficult to find without some guidance. because it's all user generated there is some amazing stuff and some totally lack luster stuff. overall it's great for what it's been able to provide, i like it!

rss

i love rss feeds and use them A LOT. i read several blogs and rss makes it easier for me to keep up with them, share posts i like with my friends, tag with my own cataloguing system and mark posts i would like to revisit.

i prefer using google reader because that is what my friends use and i can follow them as well. bloglines was ok, however i'm don't think i'd switch from my google reader.

google

I like Google and think it has some really great features. While I don't use all of the applications I'm a fan of Gmail, Google maps, Google Scholar and Google reader among others. I often try out new Google products and usually find things about them I like and find useful, and recommend to others. I worry about the monopoly Google has over the internet however, there aren't any other search engines that have prooven better so I'll keep using it :-)

facebook

for me, facebook is mostly a tool to email people for whom i don't have an email address for. i sometimes go on and look at pictures but typically stay off it so it doesn't become a time waster...
